    Default Merchant records

Where would I find merchant records from late 18th/early 19th century? According to a newspaper article my 5th great grandfather was a merchant and shipowner residing in Old Broad Street, London. So far I have been unable to find any further evidence of this.

Nor will we unless you tell us his name and other details.

Thank you for this. Apologies for not leaving any further information. I just wanted to know where would be the best place to start looking.

Name is William Richard Wilson 1756-1841 and he lived at 2 Pinners Court, Old Broad Street, London.
