Hi everyone,
I'm starting my family tree and am new to this so I hope I'm in the right place.
I'm looking for any information regarding my dad Charles Young, he was born in Brethdir, South Glamorgan on 27th March 1906.
I believe he enlisted in the Welsh Regiment at Newport, Monmouthshire on 26th September 1925 and his Army number was 3954930.
I believe he was discharged from the Army on 9th November, 1945.
any information no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hi
His service number indicates he joined up with - Welch Regiment 3947001 - 4025000 (range of number)
You wont find much else online unless he died or was awarded a gallantry award.
All his service records still at MOD - apply here - https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records

Welcome to Brit-Gen.
There are no records available on-line for any armed forces personnel still serving after 1920. MOD have them.
There is a Sticky Here which will help with info to obtain records. (click on blue link)
In brief:- If the person is still alive only they can obtain their records, if not, their spouse/civil partner can get them without charge but will have to supply a Death cert., otherwise it will cost you £30, a copy of their Death cert. and patience.
For people other than next-of-kin there is a restriction on the amount of information supplied for 25 years after date of death.
Regards,
Malcolm
