I was just coming back to say I'm not convinced the 1978 death is correct, unless bluetmtno knows for definite it's the right one?

The death date is definitely correct as my wife was pregnant with our first child when she travelled up to Nottingham for his funeral and my boy was born Jan 1979

Knowing this I am inclined to think that the birth registration John Henry Jacques registered Dec 1/4 1898 Registration district - Basford Nottinghamshire Vol 7b Page 170 Mother's maiden name Lee is your man. I know he celebrated his birthday as 26 October and that agrees with his death notice so we can forgive the 1 year discrepancy there. I wonder who the informant was on the death certificate?
The age difference on his marriage certificate and the 1939 register may have been to cover up the fact he was quite a bit younger than Lily.
What do you think Alma? Am I way off base?
There was a John Jacques birth registered in Yorkshire in Dec 1/4 1892 and I am inclined to think that the record geneius found in post #12 relate to this man.
