    Default 1841 Census - can anyone read the occupation

    Piece 1362 Folio 9 Page 9 Book 3 (Ancestry) or Piece 1362 Folio 8 Page 9 Book 3 (FMP) 47 Chapel Street, Amlwch Anglesey:

    Hugh Hughes aged 35

    I think he was a "smelter", as in a copper smelter, the handwriting is not wholly clear. What do others think?

    I'm struggling to see it as anything other than Smelter, though the 'S' is different from all the others on the page.

    On the following image there's one with the 'S' in the writer's more usual style on p.11, then two like this one on p.12. So long as smelting is a feasible occupation for Amlwch, I'd think it must be that.
