Hi,
I’m wondering if anyone can help with clues to who this person is. I was wondering if the cap badge would help ?
I believe his surname was Murrie but only have this picture.
Any help would be greatly received

Welcome to the British Genealogy Forum.
Obviously, the photo only shows the general outline of the badge - if there is more detail on the original, it might help if you made a scan at higher resolution just showing his head.
Searching on Google came up with the badges of the Cheshire Regiment and Coldstream Guards, which are the same shape assuming that there's a point centre top. If it's a crown, there's a couple of other possibilities. The Coldstream badge isn't as round as the Cheshires. All of the sites I've looked at are commercial, but easily found. The one called Britishmilitarybadges has clear images.
He's wearing what looks like Sgt's stripes on his sleeves.

Hi Lesley
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the original isn’t great quality.
Luckily there’s only a few records with that surname so I’ll try to check cap badges and sergeants on that list using the website.
Thank you.
