Hi, I've had a rather cryptic message through Ancestry asking for help. The message says
"I am trying to trace Amy Scullum (married to George Chandler ) who was the mother of Susannah Chandler birth date 27 Sept 1864.St Margarets Westminster.Any help would be appreciated"
At the moment I'm not making much progress. In the GRO birth index Susannah Chandler has mother's maiden name SCALLUM which could well be SCULLUM. I can't seem to find a Chandler/Scullum/Scallum marriage.

Susannah is possibly living with a brother William in 1881 in Durham. May be his birth in 1853 at Kingston on Thames with mmn as SKELLOM.

Many thanks. I am passing this all on to 'David' on Ancestry. He is very grateful. I might suggest he joins Brit-Gen so that he can talk to you directly.

The Amy Boyer Skellom, 30 Aug 1846, marriage is a puzzle. It's listed on FMP and Familysearch, with Familysearch recording the church as St. Mary, Lambeth (Catholic?). Yet unable to find a marriage registration for the Sep/Dec Qtrs 1846.

I think I'm getting a little confused now. We're saying that Amy Skellom married a Mr Hawkins in 1846, but, as Amy Chandler, in about 1847 she became the mother of Henry Chandler (14-years-old on the 1861 census) ?
