    Post Territorial Army Records

    Hi,

I am researching my husband's grandfather Francis Charles Harvey D.O.B. 06.10.1893 Portsmouth. I know he served in the Army Veterinary Corp in WW1 service number 50350 and then re-joined service number 1420904 and was posted to Gibraltar, between the wars. I think upon his return he became a civilian instructor at Arbourfield, Reading until he retired.

I was wondering if there was a way of getting his Arbourfield records?

Also I have another medal from the TA's , with yet another service number 2084313 Gnr. F.C. Harvey written on it and would like to know about this part of his life too.

Does anyone know how to do that please?

    Thank you

    Georgie

    HI

All records after WW1 are still with MOD- apply and pay as directed here - https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records , follow the link for someone who is deceased.
After WW1 each regiment had its own block of service numbers.
The number 2084313 suggests he originally joined - Royal Engineers 1842001 - 2303000, while 1420904 suggests Royal Artillery (Field, Coastal & Anti-Aircraft) 721001 - 1842000 and 11000001 - 11500000. Maybe he had a few periods of service, as with transfers, the same service number was usually kept?
All should be revealed in his service records.

Also with his WW1 record, 50350 joined the RFA - Royal Field Artillery according to his Medal Index Card and ended with the RGA.

    regards

    Robert
