    Welcome to the British-Genealogy forums
if you came to us from Forces War Records reading this will tell you a little about us.
WW11 service records are still held by the MoD and are not online. They can be applied for and this 'sticky' explains and gives a link to the site from which you can download the application forms. You will need 30 pounds and a copy of his death certificate. Then a little patience as they can take a while to arrive. You will not need his service number.

    HI

Where did you find those numbers? WW2 service numbers were supposed to be unique (unlike WW1), only one per person? They were allocated in blocks to a certain regiment.
1300857 suggests the person joined -
    Royal Artillery (Field, Coastal & Anti-Aircraft) 721001 - 1842000 and 11000001 - 11500000
    13000857 was (Royal) Pioneer Corps 13000001 - 14000000
Can you give us more information?

    regards

    Robert

British Army Casualty Lists 1939-1945 on Findmypast has a soldier in the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps with his number transcribed as 1300857. However, looking at the original document, it should be 13000857, which agrees with Robert's batch.

There is also an CWGC entry for a sergeant in the Royal Air Force Voluntary Reserve, whose number was 1300857. This agrees with the RAF number batch 1300001-1311744 issued to Blackpool (?) in June 1940.

I haven't given names and other details, due to Findmypast's terms and conditions.

I got the service number from AJEX the Jewish veterans site where it had the number of 1300857 for both his original name and when he legally changed names to a n angeliced name during the war. The name change was listed in the London gazette. I have found the other names plus a F H Brain
