This is a new thread containing initial data on 16 individuals buried in the Westmount Jewish Cemetery Jersey Channel Islands. These 16 individuals do not currently appear on the Cemetery Scribes data base which contains photographs and data on numbers of individuals buried in the Cemetery from 1836. See also the website International Jewish Cemetery Project which has information on the Westmount Cemetery.
In 2004 as part of my research into my David Crawcour/Amelia Barnes line which had settled St Helier Jersey Channel Islands by 1871 I obtained a Paln of Westmount Jewish Cemetery. This plan was drawn by R Cox c 1990s and contains tombstone data on 36 individuals with notes attached to some of them. The plan gives a specific layout of each grave in terms of its location to each other as well as whether or not they are buried in the old or new part of the cemetery.
There were up to 2015 some 70+ individuals buried in the cemetery. The Westmount Cemetery is the oldest of the three Jewish cemeteries on Jersey.
The individuals who are currently not listed on the Cemetery Scribes site are:
Rebecca JEWELL 16.2.1857 age 31 and 9 months
Menahim (Maximo) BEHAR 4.12.1875 age 65
He is buried next to a newly filled grave ( no details)

ALFRED KRICHEFSKI 1878-1944
I thought it would helpful to other researchers if I posted data on the 16 individuals who are buried in the Westmount Jewish Cemetery Jersey because I noted on some family trees that there was missing information on these people.
Cemetery scribes have posted a range of data on the individuals that they have tombstone photographs of.
The first name I will post on is Alfred Krichefski 1878-1944.
Interestingly, the Free BMD GRO Marriage Index has the marriage of Alfred to a Sarah BLANK Sept qtr 1905 London City 1c 107. I suspect this a registration error because I have her name on the Westmount Cemetery Burial Plan as Alfred Krichefski married Sarah Bernard DAVID? It is difficult to read the last name because of the size of the handwritten script but it looks like David. The clue for Sarah's maiden name main form part of their son's middle name.Their son Bernard David died 31.7.1922 age 13-5682 Hebrew date on the plan
Sarah Krichefski Probate -Died widow 8 Dec 1945 Nequay St.Aubins Road St.Helier Jersey Probate to Wilfred Harold Krichefski outfitter, Marcus Latner medical practioner; Max Braynes jeweller and diamond merchant Effects £1258 16s 5d

ANDREW HARVEY 1775-1855 AKA ANGEL HART HARVEY
Cemetery Scribes have a record of Andrew Harvey with his wife Caroline and children recorded ID 15718. The family appear in the 1841 Census (Copyright,TNA) HO107 1461 9 11 29 7 17

18 Hackett Street St.Helier Jersey
Andrew Harvey H Widower 76 Watchmaker b England

The Plan of Westmount Jewish Cemetery has Mr Harvey 13.1.1855 but a note recording his original name as Angel Hart Harvey with his death as 14.1.1855 aged 79.
My personal interest in this line is because 13 years ago as part of my research into my Crawcour line on St.Helier I obtained details of the birth of Matilda aka Mary Anne Samuels who had married David Crawcour. I have never purchased the birth record of Matilda aka Mary Anne so can't confirm what the Jersey Archives researcher sent to me. However, the data I did receive said that a Matilda Samuels was born Sept 24 1853 to Moses Samuels and Rebecca Hart Harvey at 3 Royal Square St.Helier. I questioned this data because Mary Anne aka Minnie census records give a dob of circa 1849 and the researcher following checks with the Jersey Registrar for BMD said that the parent's names on the birth certificate of another child Hyam were also Moses Samuels tobacconist and Rachel Harvey.
The Moses Samuels and Rachel Harvey family appear in the 1851 Census on St Helier but post that date several family trees have the family in the USA.
Copies of the Birth Certificates for the children of Moses and Rachel would confirm data as would a marriage certificate for Mary Anne to David Crawcour.
