    Default Where is my menu?

I tried to follow the forum's instructions for uploading a photofile to my post, but never even got to step 1a !
There was no menu and no command for Insert Image.
Obviously I am not looking in the right place.
    Suggestions?

    Hi
Above the reply box there is a row of symbols. Click on the square frame which is to the right of the globe. (Hovering over the frame brings up the words Insert image.) Then a box with the words 'Browse - No file selected" come up. Click on 'Browse' and select the image you want from your computer files, by clicking on it, then click on Open. This puts its details into the Browse box. Lastly click on 'Upload.' Done.
If the row of symbols is not showing above the reply text box choose the Go Advanced below the box.

Thanks Christina, but still no go. No symbols, no Go Advanced. I am trying to put in a new thread so no Reply box either.

Under the message box is a list of permissions. It says:
You may not post attachments. [IMG} code is on

Is this the block, and what can I do to change it?

    Hi All

This is puzzling, partly because I cannot find the [IMG} message or "Permissions" anywhere - probably not looking properly. My problem, and not part of this thread.

However, I have just been into My Settings > My Account > General Settings and note "Enhanced Attachment Upload on" is checked. This is probably the forum default, because I am not aware of fiddling with it during my years here. So I suggest you check your settings, just in case the problem lies there.

As I type this, in Go Advanced mode (so that I can preview it before pressing Submit Reply), the row of icons is displayed at the top of the text entry box just as always. I have up-loaded several photos over the years and never had any problems, though I haven't done a test run for this post.

I am using Windows 10, by download, and the Edge browser.

    Off to roost.

I think I have almost solved it myself - by looking on my Profile settings I spotted that three levels of editing were permitted. It was set to the most basic "text box only" level, so I upped it an editing grade and suddenly the row of icons appeared (I said I'd never seen them before!)
Loading the photo was now able to be completed.
It must have been set that way automatically when I first registered here all those years ago.
    Thanks to the helpers.

    Hi
Have I got this right? You are wanting to start a new thread then insert an image in to your first post? If so then you start off on the forums page (as you must have done to start this thread) scroll until you find the forum you want then click on it. Next click on the Post a New Thread on the top left under the Forces War Records green banner.
The title box should be there with the text box underneath, the row of symbols above the text box and the Post Quick Reply and Go Advanced underneath the text box on the right.
Just seen your post "You may not post attachments. [IMG} code is on" I have no idea what this means and will have to ask admin.

Yes, that's right. That is what I did. It worked fine till I looked for symbols,or Go Advanced etc. There are none, and I have had several tries at it.
Come to think of it, I have never seen any symbols there. Mind you, I have always posted straight text and not tried to insert an image before.
Lovely day in Kapiti - suppose it is in Wairarapa too. Maybe we should both be outside!

Yes it has been a lovely day here too so I did the outside work yesterday and early this morning. I am getting sun phobic in my old age. One of the reasons we moved here from OZ (again)
I will ask admin about the problem you are having. Which OS do you use?
