Default Info re Pte G B Syme. Kings( Liverpool)

Having only recently found out about my uncle Pte G B Syme. He is listed as Kings(Liverpool Regiment) he is also listed as KOSB in 1939. How can I find out when he actually joined the army and when did he transfer to Kings. He also fought and died with the Chindits in 1944 so would he have been eligible for the Burma star medal.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

    G

    Welcome to the British-Genealogy forums
I f you came to us from Forces War Records reading this will tell you a little about us.
You can apply for your uncles service record which is still held by the MoD. This 'sticky' gives details and links. You will need a copy of his death certificate and 30 pounds and patience as they will take a while to arrive.

    Hi

As Christina said, the only way is to apply for his service record.
DO you have this - https://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/c...george-buchan/
This will help with the application as it gives his service number age and regiment.
As you know the battalion, the war diary link above will be helpful, if you can go there or get someone to photo them.
