strange names

one does come across some odd names on the way to somewhere else

how about Winter Cuppage Poole 1794-1861 ?

There's a surprising number of the Winter forename in FreeBMD including Winter Day and, worst of all, Winter Summers.

There are 10 hits on Cuppage as a surname in the 1851, and 25 in the 1841 (Anc included Coppage and Cappage in its 1841 results) - any chance that it could also be a family name for your guy? They spread from Sussex to Cumberland, from Ireland to Argyll.

It COULD be a name that arose from an old occupation - blood letting or woodland management, perhaps?

Plain seems to be quite a common Christian name but I wouldn't fancy going through life with the name Plain Jane Parish or Plain Betty Gardner or even Plain Tom Robinson. For those of you who can't do fancy knitting patterns there's Plain Cardy and for those with a musical background what about Plain F Sharp. All can be found on familysearch.

not particularly strange or odd I guess, but I have seen both Waterloo and Trafalgar as middle names. The (female) Waterloo in question was born a day after the battle.
