    Question HMS Fencer

    Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for any information about my Father, who served on HMS Fencer towards the end of WW2. He was an airframe fitter, His name was William/Bill Litchfield.
Any info would be much appreciated.
    Thanks Al.

Welcome to the British Genealogy Forum.
I suspect that you have come to us from FWR, in which case, the post HERE will explain what has happened.

In answer to your query, your best move would be to get a copy of his service record. It'll cost you 30 pounds and a copy of the death certificate. Please read the post HERE.

A word of caution re Royal Navy service records. Prior to 1972 Royal Naval personnel were given their service records on discharge, so the details on the service records are limited to basic stuff such as name, rank and number and the ships/shore bases they served on.
There's a bit more detail in the Research Tutorials on the FWR site. (You have to register but it won't cost you anything to view it.)
