Default Henry Johnson and Harriet Godfrey

Edith Annie Johnson was born on 21st June 1872, Ladbroke Road, Reigate. She was baptised on 8th August 1872 Saint Matthew, Redhill, Surrey.

I cannot find a census entry for her parents in 1871, can anyone help?
According to her birth certificate her father Henry Johnson was a plumber.
Edith's parents were married 16 November 1867 St Saviour, Paddington. Henry's father was Henry Thomas Johnson, Bailiff, and his wife Harriet Godfrey was the daughter of William Godfrey. Did Edith have any siblings? What happened to her parents?

I think Edith Annie Johnson married Robert William Parker in Quarter 4, Thanet, Kent 1895, and she died Quarter 1, 1940 Thanet Kent.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi
Have you used the GRO index for births which now gives the mother's maiden name? https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro
You have to join but it is free. Surprisingly there are quite a few births in the 1872 +/ 2 years with surname Johnson mother's maiden name Godfrey but if just looking at the registration district Reigate (the same as for Edith Annie) there is an Albert Johnson Sept 1/4 1873 then a Mary Ann Elizabeth March 1/4 1875. I can't see any Johnson/Godfrey births in Reigate before Edith's.
What ages were given for Henry and Harriet on their marriage certificate?

When Henry Johnson and Harriet Godfrey married their address was 26, Elgin Terrace, witnesses were Mary Eyres and George Heath.

In 1871 a William Eyres was head of household at 26, Elgin Terrace, Paddington, his wife is Mary born Hemel Hempstead

In 1861 William Eyres has a lodger Harry Johnson age 23 (1838), plumber, born Hayes Middlesex

William and Mary Eyres children Jane and James both born Marylebone 1858, and 1856 respectively had MMN HEATH.

Perhaps the surname Heath is significant but Ive not found a connection yet

If you follow Harriet Hargraves from #4 through to 1901 she has with her a grandson transcribed as :
    Rd Wm A Packer age 5 .

Could this be his birth? If so the MMN matches with Johnson!

    There is a marriage

    1860 St George Hanover Sq

James VARNELL bachelor, full age, George Street Smith father George Varnell Smith

Mary Ann KING spinster George Street Father William King Carpenter

KING being the surname of the visitor in 1861!

    A James VARNELL died q1 1862 Marylebone

What is the connection with the Varnell's?

    Why the name Hargrave?

So who are Harriett Godfrey's parents? Only by purchasing the birth certificate will you now find out! info at post #8

Probably more qury's than we started out with
