    If you want to tidy up a few loose ends, Edward CLERK's parish register marriage entry is available to view on FindmyPast in 1880 at Swansea. It ties in beautifully with the 1881 census record I found and states that his father is deceased. FMP also have Burial Index transcriptions for the death of a Samuel CLARKE in Neath in 1879. 1881 census record for Susan CLERK, widow, & children Rebecca & William J in Neath (RG11/5340, folio 92, page 14) - enjoy.
