    Default G'Day

G'day fellow family foresters. I am 68 years old and thought that it was time to put together what I can of my past before I am passed

There are plenty of mysteries which leave me asking "why didn't I ask when X was alive" It is frustrating but at the same time fun and very informative as I try to look beyond the genealogy to get an understanding of what life was like for my ancestors.

In researching my family name ("Bamford") I have come across a convict (lots of them in my tree) named Bamford who may or may not be a relative, but he has a fascinating story nonetheless as he was official executioner and flagellator in one of the colonies for quite a time.

But most of all, it is fun and I am now planning a trip (2018?) to the British Isles which might help me fill in a few gaps.

    Cheers
    Ian Bamford

Welcome to the British Genealogy Forum, Ian.

It's a fact that that the black sheep left a better paper trail than the folk who lived quiet lives!
