I've just seen the Parish Register entry for the marriage of David & Eliza. I compared the signatures with that on the certificate of David and Mary Jordan and I have to say there are differences in the forming of the "D" for David on the two registrations- and on one he writes his surname as Oakes, the other Oaks again with differing character formatting. So there is now an element of doubt that 'my" David married Eliza.
Note I said doubt meaning I haven't totally discounted the marriage.

    Hello Jean

Just to let you know that I have traced Francis (Henry's father) to a Non-conformist register for Salford in 1805.
In between this research I have been slowly transcribing an 1861 census schedule for Liverpool for the FreeCEN project - the writing is pretty poor meaning I have to really focus thereby encroaching into my free time for my own research. But it is a task I enjoy as I feel that I am at least making a contribution to assist fellow researchers.
