    Where can I get precise details about what my grandfather would have been equipped with at Thiepval Ridge in 1916. Thanks, Garth

    Have you looked for your grandfather's Medal roll Index card on ancestry or Findmypast. Be aware that 60% plus of WW1 service records were destroyed by bombing/fire in WW11 so it is a lottery as to whether your grandfather's survived.

    It's a bit of a cliche, but since you know the regiment you can find a lot of useful pictures of uniforms and basic kit on google images.
