There are a few mis-filed records from the E Surrey regiment scattered throughout the CLA section of the WW1 Service Records (WO 363). This man's name is illegible - can anyone suggest a surname from the "clues"?

There's a Gates family at 32 Zennor Road in the 1911 Census, which seems to fit the bill. A 17 years old Arthur John, plus Walter 15 and Bertie 6. There are 7 children shown as living, but only 6 on the Return, so the one missing may be the chap.

No go on the seventh child, 1901 shows a married daughter, Alice Moore. So, Arthur J ?
