    Hi Pern64

It seems Jens and Kate also had another child, James William Pedersen.

To order Jens and Kate's marriage certificate these are the details you need.

Ernestus Petersen [sic], born 22 Jun 1901, baptised 14 Jul 1901
South Shields, Tyne & Wear, England
    Father: Jens Hansen Petersen
    Mother: Catherinae Franciscae Thompson Petersen

I haven't found the family on the 1911 census, perhaps they went to Denmark between Martha's birth 1906 and before the 1911 census?

    Hello
Yes that is correct, because the have a son born in 1910 in Denmark.
But thanks for the information on Ernest (as we know him). It is interesting to see that his full name is Ernestus

James appears to have died in 1903.

I don't have spare time now as have to go shopping. I can take a look later, but another member may find some information for you before I can do more searching.

Ernest is the usual form of the name in England too. In a Roman Catholic church the registers were usually written in Latin, so the English Ernest becomes Ernestus. You'll see that the mother's name is in Latin as well.

    English Ernest becomes Ernestus.
Also Latinized names are not necessarily in the nominative case, depending on the context. Hence Catherinae Franciscae meaning "of Catherine Frances..."

    2) Kate Francis Thompsons birth and her parrents names
I am having difficulty finding a positive birth registration for Kate: the nearest I've found is.........Births Jun 1879, Thompson Catherine Frances Auckland 10a 197, but that puts her 2yrs younger than the 1901 census has recorded, also the 1901 census she's entered as born West Hartlepool which wasn't in the Auckland registration district. Kate is a diminutive of Catherine.

You need the above marriage certificate to learn her father's name and occupation, also witnesses names may help.
