No suitable marriage found for George WATERS/Elizabeth MCMAHON. The nearest I've seen is Sept 1872 Ulverston, vol 8e page 990, George Waters and possible bride Elizabeth MEKIN.
Same marriage and different spelling of Elizabeth's surname. Is it near enough to be MAHON?

    Hello Almach
Thanks for continuing to help me.
Good idea to write the census here, so others may be able to help.
I do not know how much there are in your church books, but here in Denmark it may be a good idea to look for a person's death. There are often where they are born and who they are widow / widower after.
It might be a way to find John Thompson. He must have died between 1877 and 1881.
But you know best how to search for information in your church books

I believe so. Barrow was in Ulverston registration district.

    Hello
The last one 1871, 23, Langly St. Stockton. I think this is the most likely John Thompson of the three you have found. His job also match the one from the marriage certificate. Perhaps he is visiting a brother or another relative.

More digging around necessary as we don't know how old John would be in 1871, and there's probably more possibles. I did find others last night but didn't post ones who had children named Margaret or John as those two children (1881) were born after 1871, but they could have died when children and subsequent children given the same names.

Few English burials in parish registers name the spouse of the person who died.

Back in late July you said that you would help me look for a Kate Francess Thompson when I received the marriage certificate. I have just received it today.
Her farthers name was John Thompson (Decesed). He was a Boiler Smith.
Jens Hansen Pedersen and Kate Francess Thompson lived in Holiest Holborn, South Shields (As far as I can read), at the time when they got married. The witnesses to the wedding was M.E Thompson. I think that is her sister Margaret Ellen, but I'm not sure.
Please will you post all details from the marriage certificate. Where the marriage took place, was it a church or civil marriage; names of all witnesses; Catherine's address as entered on certificate. Thank you.

    Hello
Here are what I can see on the certificate:
They were married in Saint Bedes Roman Catholic Church South Shields
One of the witnesses was a M.E Thompson and a L Steever
Her farthers name (as we know) was John Thompson Boiler Smith (deceased)
Both Jens Hansen Pedersen and Kate (Catherine) Frances Thompson lived in Ho--set, Holborn, South Shields when they got married
That is what I can see.
    Hope it can help.

I saw that yesterday, Geneius, and became excited only to be deflated, if you look at the census return Mary Ann is listed as a widow and I think she's wrongly 'dittoed' as Waters.

Marriage: South Shields Mar1897, vol 10a page 1047. Mary Ann Waters/ Peter Petersen
