Hello Folks
In general I am researching the roots of the Bowles family name and specifically on my own Bowles line in Ireland and before that in England.
My interest right now involves my ancestor who served in the British Army from 1760 to 1782. I do have everything on him that are likely to be in the The British Archives including his discharge documents, Chelsea Hospital pension lists, etc. and have researched his regiments, colonels, etc.
I'm looking for people who are interested in that period, life in the British Army then, the WO files at TBA and the connections between a commanding officer and his men (in my case specifically under what circumstances might a corporal transfer between three regiments each time immediately after his commanding officer, an Earl, was assigned to each of those regiments and in each case was immediately put on a recruiting assignment).
I can't see an obvious forum to start this discussion and thought I would like to ask for some advise.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Tom
