We use the site familysearch.org where you can find brief transcripts of Parish records, remember if you do not find what you are looking for it has probably not been digitalised and 'uploaded'.HTML Code:Without an ancestry account, how do I proceed
Once found you can get a copy of the original entry from the local Record office
Alternative use other free sites that are on line....ask if you are unsure Kent has an 'online parish clerk that will contain various other information

Agree with your findings, I had to get pen & paper out to understand!
I was working on the theory that 2 children given middle name of Simmons therefore it was a distinct possibility that this was the mothers maiden name.....

Only one generation out, Jean - vbg! Quite a few of my paternal lot had the same habit of using the surname of their parents when baptising their children which has proved very helpful sorting out subsequent generations when common forenames are used especially if the surname is of the more unusual kind.
