Another perplexing note is that she describes the house and area..."a lovely old house with a lovely row (sp) over the garden golf links and miles of sea. the rooms are big and in the winter they have lovely big fires and in the summers the sun shines in and makes it like fairy-land, etc." makes me wonder if it's London or another area/country? Given the Wales connection to her family, and her Birkenhead roots/birth. Could I have it all wrong with London?

Could it be that her mailing address and the school were in two different places? She may have written the letter whilst she was staying in London hence the mailing address but referring to her school elsewhere.

Yes, your assumption could be right - such a goose chase but a fun one! I'm going to tap more of her daughters for details - someone has to have something with a school name!!
