    Default HLI help & info.

Looking for details about Thomas McInnes (service no. 1820, HLI). Awarded Military Medal 1916. How can I find out where, why, details of service, even where he joined, etc. ?

His medal index card gives his old style and revised numbers as 1820 and 330264, respectively. It says that he arrived in France on 22 Aug 1915 (so he had the 15 Star as well as the Victory & British medals).
As far as I can see , his service record must be among the 60%+ that did not survive WW2.

His local newspapers might have a mention of the medal.. You could at least find out what the HLI were doing if you find their War diary.
