    Default Beehan Brickwall.

    Hello, again everyone!

I'm not sure if you guys cover Ireland, but need help in finding any information on the Beehan family.

I'm stuck on the Father of Richard Beehan 1864-1933 he is John Beehan I think he was born abt. 1830. possibly married to a Mary Coolby. DoB unknown. In the 1901 census Richard had spelt his last name Behan and in 1911 Beehan, being Ireland I'm finding it difficult.

    Hi
We 'do' any country but Ireland is known to be more difficult than some others.
You mention the 1901 and 1911 censuses for your Richard Be*han. Are these the Ireland censuses? Which county is he living in? Wife and children's names?

Is this your family in 1911?
    64 in Urlingford Town, Kilkenny
Richard Beehan 51 Head Army pensioner and AR Batman
Margaret 48 Wife Married 15 years 5 children to the marriage, 4 living.
    John 14 Son
    Richard 13 Son
    Thomas 12 Son
    Margaret 11 Daughter
    All born Kilkenny

If this is not your Richard can you give us his family's details and where/when born. Thanks.

This is my family. I forgot to mention that it was the Irish Census of 1901-1911

I believe they were all born in Urlingford. Kilkenny. His wife was Margaret Manton. John Beehan his oldest son died in the First World War aged 20 (14 May 1915) I am descended from his Second son, Richard.

What is an AR Batman? is that Army Batman?

OK, then I don't think John Beehan and Mary Coolby are his parents, as that Richard was born in Cork

A Richard Beehan married a Margaret Manton june 1/4 1896 registration district Urlingford vol 3 page 479
This marriage certificate would give the names of fathers and their occupations.
I have moved this thread to the Kilkenny forum in the hopes that it will attract Elwyn Souters attention as he is very familiar with Irish records.

He enlisted in the D Company Connaught Rangers.

I can't see a suitable baptism for him as yet.

I also picked up on the name Richard Francis Beehan b 1898 these are on FMP

I get the feeling that Richard senior & Richard junior's Army record are muddled. Senior was in Connaught Rangers Junior in Machine Gun Corps
