Nothing to do with William sorry, but in 1851 Ann was a widow. She remarried in 1854 to George Thomas HOWE (BMD indexed as HORNE) at Shoreditch. Her father John MOSS, a farmer. She said she was 33.

Ann and children arrived in 1855 on the ship Miles Barton into Victoria.

    Ann HOWE, 33, Spinster
    Mary Ann GILBY, 12
    John GILBY, 11
    Emily GILBY, 9
    Alfred GILBY, 8
    Ellen GILBY, 7

Mary Ann is Elizabeth Mary Ann, Ellen is Caroline Ellen. Ann wasn't necessarily pretending to not be their mother, passenger lists are never accurate.

    Thank you Dundee10

I had found the second marriage but wasn't too sure about it as she is buried as

    Name Ann Allison Gilby
    Death Date 20 Sep 1859
    Cemetery Geelong Western Public Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place Geelong West, Greater Geelong City, Victoria, Australia

I have e-mailed what I have found and I am awaiting a message from contact in Australia.
