Why would a couple marry twice, I wonder?????
Moorfields I think was a Catholic Chapel, at that time in England marriages performed there wouldn't be recognised by the state as all marriages (except Jewish and Quaker ) had to take place in the Church of England.

And perhaps some more information regarding the SANTILLO (and variants) family in addition to Alma's post 17:

Burial at Royal Hospital Cemetery, East Greenwich, on 15 December 1857 of a Francis SANTELLO, Greenwich Hospital, aged 81.

I will try to find out a bit more information re Francis.

1851 census of Greenwich Hospital, Kent (HO107/1587, folio 421, page 15):

Francis SANTILLO Private Pensioner Married 66 Private Italy Naples

Perhaps his marriage at Portsea, Hampshire, on 22 December 1814 to a Mary DIBDEN.

Lunch beckons, will carry on later.

I am going to Italy (and other Mediterranean ports, then London) next month but I won't have time for research there sadly.
I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, Kaye. Italy is my favourite country for holidays, I've been over 40 times, and visited every region, the south is my preferred area. Have you been to Europe before? Sounds like the holiday of a lifetime

First time. So I am making the most of it. Almost 6 weeks travelling in total. One week in London. This was planned before I discovered this wonderful site and had all these 'breakthroughs'. I may have planned things differently. Oh well, thank goodness for technology!!!
