    Default WWII Service Records Order codes

    Hi, I'm looking for some guidance.
    I suspect like many (all?) WWII Service Records, my father’s contains many ‘Orders or Other Authority’. Being able to interpret the Order e.g. XL/182/44 in August 1944 when he embarked UK, destination NWE, would shed greater light on his assignment.
    Is there a web site or archive location where such orders can be investigated?

    Hi Trevor, I would recommend having a look at the Forces War Records website. They are fairly new, and regularly update their site and add new records. However you can hire a researcher, which I highly recommend; a few hours paid research by an expert in this field could uncover incredible things you might never know about your father's war record.
