    Default Birth Certificate

    Yet another plea for help!

I need a copy of my Grandfather's BC to send to the CWGC. They will then ammend his records accordingly.

I have done searches over the last two days, until my eyes bled.

    What I do know: ( probably )

    Thomas Ellis (1888 - 1917)
    Ann Morrall - wife (1889 - 1972)
    Wedding - 1911
    TE father - George Ellis (1864 - 1902) - Horse Dealer
    TE mother - Florence Ellis ( Dukes or Duker ? ) (b 1864 )
    Other children - Frank Thomas (1889 ) Alice ( 1891 ), Julian Carl (1898 ), Phylis Mona ( 1900 )

On the Attestation form that TE completed on 1 Dec.1915, he stated he was 27 years old, and that he was born in June, 1888.
Various census docs have confirmed his DOB, as does his marriage certificate.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would very much appreciate it.

Hi Steve, I don't know what area/county you are expecting to find TE's birth registration.

    How does this one fit?

    Ellis, Thomas, MMN Dukes
GRO Reference: 1889 M Quarter in Kings Norton Volume 06C Page 383

That record doesn't fit with a June birth though.

    That looks very promising.

Sadly, when I put those details into GRO, I get no matches, for any quarter??? Why is that?

As to the month of birth, I am only going by what is written on the Attestation form. Maybe he was guessing?

George Ellis married Florence Dukes Dec 1886 Birmingham 6d 336

The bith ref for Thomas is correct as per the last post

The birth refs for the other three children you mentioned all have mmn Dukes so I'm sure it is correct.

Re the GRO site I just entered Ellis, Thomas Male, 1888 +/- 2 and the King Norton Ref came up. Sometimes it's better to keep it simple.

    KISS is proven, yet again.

Entered next to nothing, and got dozens of hits.

That you all for your invaluable help, yet again.

    UPDATE

A copy of my grandfather's BC arrived today.

It, along with copies of some of his army records, is on its way to the CWGC.

    Many thanks for your help.
