    Default Portsmouth Jewish Cemetery

Hi, does anyone know if there are any public records of burials in the Portsmouth Jewish Cemetery in Fawcett/Jews Lane and if so, how these might be accessed? I have a number of Abrahams who died in Portsea from the mid 1860's through to the 1930's. I'm overseas so visiting is not possible.

    Many thanks

The burial records date from 1835 and Cemetery Scribes website has information on the Portsmouth Jewish Cemetery- see also International Jewish Cemetery Project website for information. The photographs for tombstones appears to be an ongoing project. You might want to contact the Portsmouth and Southsea Hebrew Congregation The Synagogue The Thicket Elm Grove Southsea Hants PO5 2AA - see their Home pages online. You could also post on British Jewry listers and see if anyone can help to get you details. I can't see any data base which lists specific burial records.
