Sorry - to answer your question I have to say I've not taken a DNA test.

I've posted elsewhere on BG forum ref my views on DNA tests and from a totaly personal point of view I'd never bother with one.
They strike me as a bit of an Ancestry money maker, and I'm not convinced their data base of people's DNA is comprehensive enough.

I don't even want to know if I'm 1/4 Viking or 7/8ths Neanderthal!

I'd much prefer to track ancestors thru their paper trail and known families, with all the stories that that produces. And there's more than enough of them to keep me busy to be sure that I've got the right people.

    Anyway - Rant over -

this is just my own humble opinion - you must spend your money and track your ancestors as you see fit!!

    Smile Re DNA

I understand and respect your reticence and I agree with your suspicions. It is my hope that my DNA will provide some leads to unknown but suspected family eventually. Of course nothing stands without a satisfactory paper trail. And I truly get much joy from the 'hunt'. Thanks again for the response.

I have edited the title of this thread in the hope of getting it wider attention - every time I saw it on the New Posts list with its original title, I assumed that it related to Scotland!
