sorry for being so vague the information i have is from a couple of older people from Auchtermuchty area and one man that lived there in the forties.
since i was a child there have always been the stories like this one below.

it was a damaged bomber returning from a raid ,it crashed in front of the newton farm. killing all the canadian crew . after the war my gran had a caller at the door , it was the mother of the canadian pilot of the crashed bomber ,who had come to see where her son had died.
