This man enlisted with the Royal Scots Fusiliers under the name of CLARK on 15 March 1898 - and deserted on the 18th! Apprehended in June, he returned to the regiment and again deserted, on 9 July. His papers (such as they are) are filed under CLARK.

According to the Police report, pre-enlistment he resided with his employer - Mr STOCKDALE, a Coal Merchant, of Commercial Road, Glasgow.
He claimed to be 18y 2m of age, born in Govan, father Arthur. This may be untrue!
