If you google the history of the parish there is a church website with a section on freemasonry which includes mention of the Alderdices and the inn. Edward's name also comes up in the Belfast Newsletter, Oct 21st 1828. At a meeting held for the purpose of establishing Brunswick Clubs in the parish, Edward seconded a proposal that the Rev Philip Johnson be parochial president. (Johnson was a controversial character at the time - some contemporary histories don't paint him in a good light, to say the least)

It's in the British Library Newspapers collection, accessible via libraries in England (not sure about elsewhere) but that was literally all that was mentioned of Edward - 'seconded by Edward Alderdice'. There was no further reference to him in the article.

If he married in 1829 to Jane Allen then the death in my post #2 is his first wife's death 17 April 1829 . Didn't take him long to remarry.

Did Edward die1847? If so he is named in the Ireland Diocesan and Prerogative Wills & Administrations indexes.
Edward Alderdice Year 1847 Residence Derriaghy Administration to his son Thomas. In one of the columns is written 'Intest" so there may not be a will.
