Hi I'm struggling to find a service record from ww2 for a relative for my family tree.

    Name- Alexander Robert Ring
    Regiment- Royal Artillery
    DOB- 6th November ????
    Born - London??
    Married - 1942

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Ash, you won't find service records post 1922 online as they've not been released by the MOD as yet (strange though that may sound).

You have to apply directly to the Army Personnel Centre in Glasgow and pay a £30 fee and provide a death certificate copy to get these.
There is a sticky in the root of this forum that explains this and the veterans-uk website has all the necessary forms to apply.

    Hi AshR2393,

I always have to think which precise forum the note is in, but it's here in the military section rather than the general section where you posted your query.

Proper use of a search engine eg "service records" site:gov.uk takes you straight to the relevant site.
