    I've found a possible living in Heanor Derbyshire and if the right chap he was born in 1902 and has the middle initial H.

    Have you seen John's Royal Air Force service records, it is stated on them that he was born in the parish of St Paul Maidstone. I haven't found online baptisms for the parish, it appears they are held at Kent History and Library Centre, perhaps a trip there would prove fruitful. John's brother Guy was baptised at St Michaels Maidstone, but there doesn't appear to be a baptism for John - I searched 1903 +/- 1yr using only John (no surname) plus mother's first name only (Fanny).
