Default Help with PAF file plus more pls

Well its all changed since I was last dabbling with my tree! I inherited a fairly bare PAF.exe file a few years back wheich Ive subsequently put much work in to. I tend to pick up the thread every few years and now my PC cant open the appropriate PAF files and I noticed in line that file support ceased in 2013

Q - what is the file of choice on here to open such a file please?

Thereafter having read a few topics in this section, I will be moving my tree to an on-line based version.

    Thanks for your help

Most software will import a gedcom.

I wouldn't recommend an online "solution" (pretty sure that's a problem in disguise!).

Have you looked at Family Historian? At least it's British software.

Hi Peter - are you suggesting that if I download a gedcom file that should crack a PAF file?

    Hi Gary,

You can download the free versions of Rootsmagic https://www.rootsmagic.co.uk/free-demo.php or Legacy Family Tree https://www.legacyfamilytree.com/Down...y.asp#Download and both claim to be able to open PAF files direct, although I have not tried it myself.

    PAF will export a gedcom.

I'm not clear if you're saying that the PAF software is damaged or the PAF file is damaged.

The free version of Ancestral Quest will open PAF 5. It may not work with earlier versions of PAF.
