    Default A Dilema

Within my Fletcher circle on my DNA results I have one person saying he is related to Nancy Phillips. But I am trying to tell him he isn't. He does show on my circle but has no connection to me. He does with some of the others within my circle. If he was related to my Nancy he would be showing up with a connection to me as well.

So what I am trying to do, is help him find the parents of Daniel Webster Fletcher. He has these children of this Daniel on his tree:

    Daniel Judson Fletcher
    1850–

    George Wellington Fletcher
    1852–

    Mary Susan Fletcher
    1852–

    Martha Fletcher
    1852–

    Charles Fredrick Fletcher
    1858–1924

    Elizabeth Jane Fletcher
    1860–

    Emma Fletcher
    1862–

    Letty Fletcher
    1866–

I tried to find more info on some of this Daniel's children but didn't find much as of yet. I also looked in my Fletcher tree books and didn't find those names in them either.

I just found some info. He has his Daniel under the wrong Daniel.

Yes thanks ChristinaL. I bet that is why he isn't showing up connected to me with the DNA. Due to his tree not being correct.

My immediate line is Daniel 1st-Mary Phinney
    Daniel 2nd-Nancy Phillips
    Daniel 3rd-Susan Stewart
    Margaret Louise-Willard Franklin Crozier
    Clara Crozier-David Robinson
    Alice Leah Robinson-Gordon Bolton Martin
    Me.

So you can see how he put his Daniel (son to Daniel 2nd) That person's Daniel's father was David 1784.

I'm glad I looked into this as I didn't have any info for that Daniel. So he filled in a lot of blanks for me.

He went with what he saw on other people's trees. But one never knows if that tree is correct without doing further research.

No idea where he got the name Letty from. It doesn't show her on this site.

You can't force him to agree with you. All you can do is give him the evidence that you have based your version of the trees on, and let him make his own mind up. Some people need time to get used to new ideas, let him work through everything.

You have a potential problem, however. In message 4 you say that he filled in a lot of blanks for you. However, if he is so wrong on one of the links, can you trust him on other data? You really need to check it all yourself.

So true Lesley. I wouldn't be using the info from his tree. I would be using the info from the link I posted in message #5. And from the info that the lovely ChristinaL posted. from that census.

He did listen to me about the error. He is in the middle of fixing it.

    His immediate line was

    Daniel 1st-Mary Phinney
David (1784)-Hanna King (David was a brother to Daniel 2nd) (which is where he made his error)
    Daniel Webster.

    Hi
good to hear that he has taken your help on board, checked the evidence. and is fixing it.
I can never understand those who, when given an alternative version of their research choose to ignore it. It should be checked even if it is rejected after checking.

I know what you mean ChristaneL. Quite a few have Jane Nixon's mother as Jane Drape. Which I know it isn't. As I have made a DNA match with Ann Moses, Jane's mother. I have notified some but again they chose to ignore it. I personally like it when people let me know of errors.
