    hello
Just trying to get a handle on this family which will help us get further back with William

This is the marriage of George Hurd and Elizabeth Ash?
    1849 St. Giles', Willenhall, Stafford
    George Hurd, father William Hurd
    Elizabeth Ash, father Daniel Ash
Wolverhampton registration district December 1/4 vol 17 page 456

and in the 1851 census (surname mistranscribed)
    HO107 Piece 2020, Page 1
    Dimmensdale? Willenhall, Staffordshire
George Hurdes 26 Locksmith born Birmingham, Warwickshire
Elizabeth Hurdes 21 born Manchester, Lancashire
    Mary Hurdes 8 Mo Willenhall

There is a tree on ancestry with the marriage certificate for this couple which has William Hurd's occupation as a file grinder. The birth dates for parents appear to be way off beam.

I have moved this thread from the Writing up your family history forum to the Warwickshire forum

Given that George HURD states that he was born c1825 at Birmingham in census records, I think that the birth/baptism Jackie found in the post above is very likely your George HURD. George's marriage record states that his father was William HURD a File Grinder which also corroborates the baptism found by Jackie.
