    Default 4th Battalion - Welch Regiment WW2

All - after some really good advice from this forum I've recently managed to obtain my Grandfathers Army records.

I'm trying to understand a few things from one of the A3 sheets.

How can I find out where he would have been stationed in North West Europe and what dates / periods. I've read the following so far which has been a real help. https://royalwelsh.org.uk/downloads/E...attalionTF.pdf

Additionally there are a number of abbreviations I am unfamiliar with.

    33 R.H.U.x(N)
    U/A/CPL
    SOS Draft RXPAF

Having trouble adding the photo. Will attempt post submission.

    Cheers and Thanks in Advance

The best approach is to go and do it yourself.

Alternatively, there is a list of independent researchers on the National Archives website

Hi I have the complete set of war diaries for the 4th Welch (photos) which you can have. A word of warning - you will not (or rarely) find the name of any soldier - only an officer. So you need to find out your subjects company (A,B,C or D or support). It might be in his records or what you were told. A Battalion consists of 800 men ((approx)
