    Default Wartime defence abbreviations

I've been looking at the 1939 Registration. I have found my aunt and uncle. On the far right of the schedule there is another column - mainly empty. But, beside my uncle's name it says "RP Emergency Driver" and beside my aunt's name is says "RP First Aid". Beside both is the word "part" which I am taking to mean that they were part time and the end of the word has been missed. They both gave employment in the appropriate column.

So, whilst I am familiar with the role of an ARP Warden (Air Raid Precaution) do I assume RP was just Raid Precaution? Anyone know what their duties would have been, please?

    Thank you.

I don't think either sound particularly likely (knowing my aunt and uncle - auntie particularly) but I think rescue party sounds more likely than Regimental Police!

Aha! Thank you. 'Repair Party' sounds much more like them and more likely.

I seem to remember being told uncle was a volunteer fireman during the war with his brother and they both used to give their sister a fireman's lift down the stairs "to practice". So, this makes more sense now.
