    Default prison records

Hi I am new to this but I have been searching for my dads real mother (he was adopted by a relative) she gave birth to him in 1945 at 1 Knox Rd in Cardiff which I think is Cardiff Prison. Is it to early to get the records for that time as it was not 100 years ago or is there some way I can find her and what she did.

I don't think that the 100 year rule applies to prison records, but I don't know of any that are on line from that period.

However, do you have his birth certificate? That should definitively tell you where he was born, and the name of his mother.

If she committed a crime that resulted in a prison sentence it is very likely that it would been reported in a newspaper. There are various newspapers that no longer exist, but also a number were taken over by The Western Mail, which is today very the principal provincial newspaper. This link will tell you about them and how to contact them:
