    It could be him as he was in that area according to my mother. I am writing from Sydney, Australia. I called my sister in the Uk just now, she thinks he was more likely to have been born in Poland in a village called something like Strahinza???
    She thinks his mothers name was Lucy and Father Basil. Would it be useful to send you a photo in his military uniform?

    One of the earlier posts mentioned ordering certificates from the GRO. This is the link that will enable you to do so. Do not use any other site, as they will charge you more for no extra.

    I tried looking for your Polish village but failed and that is probably because of the spelling. However, Family Search, which is a free site, have a page about Polish Gazetteers (list of place names) that might be of help to you. https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/...and_Gazetteers

    Your parents marriage certificate should give you his father's name and occupation.

    Your father's photo - it would not do any harm to post it on this thread, as someone may recognise the uniform.
