    Default Elizabeth PRYTHEROCK - Rhondda

I have Elizabeth Prytherock, proprietor of the Brithweunydd boarding house behind the Dinas arms, in the 1911 Wales census. Widow. Her probate announcement is online in the newspapers but not very helpful. I cannot find her in any earlier census, or a marriage record. Her son is George Alfred Ford, b Staffs 1875, so either she remarried after having him or went back to her maiden name when her husband died (I don't know his identity). Any thoughts appreciated - this seems to be an unusual surname, and may be a misspelling of her actual name?

You need George Alfred Ford's marriage certificate as a starter, it will name his father, unless his father is unknown

Marriages Jun qrt 1902, Cardiff, vol 11a, page 657

George Alfred Ford and also listed Emma Caroline E Burt

    In 1901 I used Elizabeth P*th*k born 1850 +/- 2 years Devon

It brought up 2 one born in Hatherleigh who is married to John Pethick and there is a daughter Mable aged 24 with them and the other in Plymouth although ancestry has transcribed it as Plymton but the family is living in Plymouth. She is William T Pethicks sister.

May be worth looking at but then again....?

Then there is the Petherick surname which could be a variation

The probate record spells her surname Prytherrock

Ignore all of the above. See my post #8.

    Hi Christina,

On the 1911 census I read Elizabeth's place of birth as Portsmouth Hants, where did you get Devon from, have you found her on another record born Devon?

George Alfred Ford, b Staffs 1875
    I don't see a George Alfred Ford born Staffs 1875 +/- 2yrs.

There's one born Dec qrt 1875 Portsea (next to Portsmouth where Elizabeth was born). If him perhaps they moved to Staffs when he was young.

Forget him, his parents seem to be Frederick and Katherine

    There's a Prytherk family in the 1871 RG10 piece 5654 folio 60 page 1 in Denbighshire

Ah just found my error. In 1911 George's wife was born Devon. Duh!
