Had a thought - maybe the B - George Harrod's middle initial - stands for Bateman?

There were two George Harrods born in Durham/Yorkshire in 1893

The records we have were written by George's(b.1893) brother,William.It seems he meant to have written George Bateman Herrod/Haarrod. The surname has had different spellings down the generations.Bateman was his mother's maiden name.However,again from our records,we know Ethei died in 1937 and George married again.But we don't know what happened to George and Ethel's sons.
