Believe my Grandfather ran the Little Wonder at 322 Ilderton Road in the 1930's or 40's. His name was George Carter. He was married to Gertrude Carter, nee Royall. The pub was demolished in 1962 and he died in 1957. Anyone know of it or where I could verify if he was the licensed victualler for this pub. Thanks,

I assume that this is the couple that married in Greenwich in 1917?
There is an Ilderton Road, in London, not far from Greenwich (just search a map such as Google with “Ilderton Road, London”. The post code today is SE16 3JU.
SE16 is generally the postcode for Southwark and Bermondsey. It might be worth contacting the Southwark Council local history library: https://www.southwark.gov.uk/info/200...istory_library

It seems that Ilderton Road was once Canterbury Road. The link below shows the Little Wonder with both addresses although, sadly your grandfather and wife are not named. However, there is a big gap between 1934 and 1944, so you could try further searches of directories and London electoral rolls.

Thanks Peter. Yes, in 1891 the address was 197 Canterbury Road. I'll follow your suggestion.

Found this but no mention of a Carter - however there seem to be a lot of sites devoted to old pubs so a Google (or whatever you use) search might turn something up: https://www.pubshistory.com/LondonPub...uryRoad9.shtml
