Hi,
I have a 2x great grandfather whom was a "night constable" in 1863 & in 1864 he was a "police constable" in Scotland. At the time he resided in Glasgow but was from a different part of Scotland.
I've tried to use google to see what what being a P.C would've meant back in that year but not having too much luck. I was hoping someone more knowledgeable than myself could maybe give me a description?
Also, were their any records kept in this line of work? If so, would it be worth looking into for genealogical purposes?
