My friend 94 was a Hurricane pilot with 274 squadron in WW2 he never claimed his medals.... H trained in 1940 and went to North Africa after his Hurricane conversion at Debden... He was shot down and a POW in 1942
Is he entitled to the War medal - Defence medal and the Africa Star?

Thank Peter.... I get that bit.... I need them by next week so I have to purchase copies not originals... I just need clarification of what actual medals he is entitled to wear... Having done further research he is indeed entitled to were the Africa Star 1940-43 Defence medal 1939-45 and the War medal 1939-45

Hi
What about the 1939-45 star?
The Africa Star is actually just named that - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africa_Star, although the date range is right, same with Defence Medal.
But really all speculation, you need to write to MOD Medals to get his full entitlement. - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/medals-c...nd-eligibility
regards
Robert
