This is a site I came across today and not heard of before. Haven't checked it's usefulness out yet but thought I'd better post before I lose it!

Well, just found a marriage for a female with my exact maiden name (unusual name) being married in Sombra in 1876. I also now know that Sombra is in Ontario Canada.

I tried it with my GUncle Henry since I only found him (buried in Canada) this year after years at the top of my most wanted list. He was number 1 on the list ( followed by hundreds of unrelated results, some with only a tenuous connection to my search).
Definitely deserves a place among my bookmarks...

I'm rather frustrated. I entered GILSTAIN and it said I had 160 hits. The first page of 10 hits held no surprises, although there was an interesting extract from a book in the Internet Archive containing information on my 2xgt grandfather, which I already knew but not from that particular book. Whenever I clicked on Page 2, however, or any of the page links up to Page 10, I just got the same two remaining hits

There's a fortnightly magazine, too
Yes, this specialist search engine is very useful indeed - came across it when I found the Genealogy In Time (GiT) magazine, and I found the mag on Twitter. GiTime mag is published fortnightly, every other Saturday; it is free and it is excellent. I cannot give a link to the Home page because there is advertising, but I am sure enthusiasts will be able to work out how to get there.
The GiT folk are based in Canada. They round up as many free resources worldwide as possible, and also keep you up-to-date with new data added to various sites; they cover subscription sites, too. Each fortnight, the mag lists the newest records, by country. It is very useful, and I find it much easier than Cyndi's List. It is also amazingly up-to-date, e.g. it listed the EZARD One-Name Study Profile Page on the website of the Guild of One-Name Studies the day after I had published it. Gulp!
Through the genealogy search engine, I discovered an Andrew Ezard who had deserted during the American War of Independence. Hadn't known that any EZARDs were involved in that one! There is also a dedicated Family Tree section.
So it is certainly worth taking the time to explore the Genealogy In Time website.
